We have now done the shopping for suits, the skyping to learn Spanish, for the first time and we are trying to fit all those things in our suit cases.  We have met the infield representative for Guatemala over the phone and e-mailed the doctor over Guatemala.
I hope this is not too boring.  Our main purpose in doing this blog is to be able to journal it at the end.  Hopefully we can keep in touch with friends along the way.  We are still just scratching the surface of learning to use our computer but it has been fun.  Kim showed us the you tube video of the old couple trying to figure out how to skype.  They are singing and talking to each other unaware that they are being recorded the whole time.  It is hilarious!

Getting ready for Guatemala

We have been called to serve in the Guatemala, Guatemala City South mission!  We are leaving in February.  I (Barbara) have been called to serve as the mission medical specialist and Dale has been called to serve in the mission office. We submitted our papers in October and finally received our call just a little over two weeks ago.  Who knew there would be so many things to do to get ready?
From the driving record to the retirement arrangements, from the clothing to the house updates, from the insurance and checking account management to moving all our things out of the way so Rebecca and Paul and their boys can move in.  It has all seemed like a whirlwind.  We're just glad that they gave us several weeks to accomplish all of it.
Dale has been absorbing videos in Spanish to help him learn the language.  He has tags on all the kitchen furniture and appliances with the Spanish names. He says the only thing he knows is "Olah" and "No comprendo" but I know better.
